Will it Run After 20 Years? Abused John Deere 316 Garden Tractor
This one might take the cake for being the worst tractor yet in terms of abuse! This is a 1991 John Deere 316 garden tractor with the 50” deck and well worn Onan P218G engine. Will this ole beast run again?

Reviving a JUNK John Deere 430 Diesel Garden Tractor

I know the ending had a lot left to be desired since it became a parts tractor. I’ll will try to find a GT that can be properly revived at some point in time. This one was just too worn everywhere else to be worth fixing (to me at least).

What to Look For When Buying an Oliver 50 Series Tractor
Best video on youtube.
Let us know when you are ready to be a man. We will introduce you to the 430
But still it's a cool video and you gained a subscriber today
If a 50" deck holds the hubs straight its good... I have 2 318s both with the 50" deck one I took ⅛" plate and made a new area to bolt the hubs to because it would Ben's anytime I hit anything that thing has like 6000 hour on it , side note the hour meter had been gone since I was a little kid but ik it has a ton of hours on it because it's been in the family since new and ik how much it mowed every time
Doesn't work on 96 Dodge rams
Yes, sadly this is available for 1998 and higher vehicles.
How you get it to spin both? I got the same truck
Limited slip rear end.
I own a 265, 314. And f 725 ❤
Do you know if a 400 deck and a 420 deck are the same ?
Similar design but I don’t think they will interchange on tractors.
@@66Oliver thanks
So what are you doing with it? Parting it out?
Yes, it is has since been parted out. I tried selling whole, and nobody bought it. I only was asking about $1,000 for it.
Hi. I know this video is a bit old but I was wondering what was done to this truck exhaust wise? I have a muffler delete on mine and it sounds similar to this but yours is significantly louder which is what I've been wanting. Thank you.
This one was stock headers to three inch pipe, all the way back to an axle dump with an 8” tip. Previous owner put on this exhaust.
@@66Oliver Thank you for such a quick response! Appreciate the info 😃
I'm curious. Why do you have so much grass? I am getting a 420 up to speed that didn't run. It didn't have any cracks or leaks and the steering is perfect. I replaced fuel lines & suction tubes, cleaned fuel tank, added electric fuel pump, changed Hyd oil & filter, replaced hydro damper, took play out of hydro linkages (hydro still jumpy), engine needs choking so I'll probably reseal the intake manifold and clean the carburetor. Battery light stays on. 2420 hours with 85-90 compression so I'll probably rebuild the engine someday. This was the only 420 I found for sale in my area so that is why I bought such a high hour unit. BTW somebody painted it flat black so I'll have to redo the paint when all is finished.
Got 67 mph out of mine 1 3/4 pully 🤣💪✌️
Why would you title the video a revival when you didnt take the time to fix it?
Because it technically WAS a revival, since it didn’t run at all, in however many years of the last two owner’s having it. A revival doesn’t mean that I have to fix it - it just means that it came back from the dead. I do have ones where I start them up and then fix them, but this one was far too gone for it to be worth it.
01 Dakota v8 owner from California. Good video sir.
You should have tried a long chain to lower the angle of pull and added rear ballast.
Great video also will hoods interchange and on the 318 not shown will that deck fit the 420. Great videos
My levers are some loose but work great but the age and hrs it's great for my uses
My hydro lever creeps when in the center so I just pull it to nutrual.
I'm looking for a 3 point hutch possibly the ruegg
Mine didn't have a belly pan but bought 8ne fast. My steering cylinder has lots of movement but works fine. I can't see any stops for steering max. I've been thinking about making a container for hydrolic fluids that won't take forever. I'd love to have a mower deck with shaft
A few years ago I bought a 420 and the guy said it was OK but the 24hp honda that was in it had carb issues so I went ahead after getting it home and tried starting it but nit much luck so I bought the carb and tried it and it ran but still issues so I pulled it and got a briggs 23hp and all is well. I replaced all fuel lines totally with tank filters then got a cab and wired that for led lights. I got a smow blade since the one he gave me didn't fit, later I bought a easy buck loader and it's great. I added a rear weight and new tractor tires and rims new. On the old 24hp honda I'm leaning it's in the area of a governor but I took a completion check and one sides low. I priced rear gearbox for a tiller and a used ones are crazy cost so I bought a gas unit to pull behind with a lx176 or lt160. Please supply the electric fuel pump you used in case my briggs goes out. It 8nly has around under 100 hours or less. Your posts are great helps a old fart learn more
I mean i dont really expect any seat to last 30 years.😂 Ok im done😂 cheers
Oh and basically I should get the 332🤔
So if missing belly pan or side panels dont buy. Got it.😂
Soft wood is still wood.🤠🤷
y'all are so dang lucky to have a truck like that. 😂👍
My dad had a 1968 1200 4x4 with a 345 and 4 speed. Bought it from the local fertilizer plant to use as a water truck. Thing that blew my mind was it had a pto coupler by the rear bumper.
Nice to see! I have a 1967 JD 4020 I use to pull a [late ‘60’s / early ‘70’s] Sidewinder S/W 84 Pull Behind. LOVE it!
I want a 8V71 2 stroke detroit but the only detroit i have right now is a 6.5
Should have side stacked it
I've had a '68 1850 gasser for about ten years now, really like it other than no float on the hydraulics. It had the head redone and sleeves and pistons at around 3600 hours or so I was told, the head has been hot tanked so probably... Great tractor, love the hefty nature of the beast, it's my snow plowing rig and it handles a 9' Bison xhd 270 blade like a champ. Fires right up at -9°F too!
Hey, I just rebuilt my TMAXX 3.3. it wasn't started for about 10 year. Engine seized. Finally took it apart. now is start. BUT It doesn't move under its weight, fast. on a stand tyres spins like crazy... any ideas? I tried pushing it closer to the gear but still. i didn't want the gears grinding.
Try tuning the carb, you might be too rich or lean and it isn’t getting enough power. That or check rolling resistance of power train, maybe something is partially seized in the transmission or drivetrain.
That's not a truck that's an automatic
My kenworth did that, but would only shut off if you unhook the pig tail from the trailer.😂
Grab stearing wheel with both hands....shake violently whilest screaming " YOU F@#$ING PILE OF SH#T" exit cab and go home...job done
Any update? Looks like the ignition is stuck
This was last year, I believe a relay was melted on if I remember right. I didn’t work on this one.
It probably needs a camshaft anyways.
Power back feeding the ingintion switch. There is a ingintion and a bat power connection in the overhead for the CB on some 579s. They may, have tied them together.

I did. I have loved John Deere since I was a kid, but Oliver tractors 🚜 are just just as good 👍 😅definitely not hating on those machines.
You wanna know what the cool part is? It's a cold start and it's a john deere two hot things I like😊
No way you said that on an Oliver Chanel , respect ✊
When you start it let it idle to warm up
Nothing like a Cold start, as a subscriber to your channel do the Oliver super 66 cold start
From what I understandthe fifty three block made in mexico are stronger than the ones casted in brazil
great video, lead me to an amazing truck
Still more to come off too
I own two 420’s.87 and 89. I payed 600 apiece for them. One has a 60” deck and the other I put a 47 snowblower on which I purchased for 750 bucks. I love both machines! Nothing better! Had to put a PTO electric clutch and lower pulley on the 87. Very expensive but worth it. Always check lower front pulley for loose splines. This pulley is about 200 bucks! Love the power steering! Thanks for the video❤
Completely honest I want a Detroit generator just in case I lose power..... And be nice to find something that still has one in it just to putt around in. Can't afford to swap one into what I have. 😬
That’s wierd. Mine makes zero noise clutch pedal pushed in, but sounds like marbles when clutch pedal is out 😂 (2005 ram 2500 NV5600 4x4)
That looks like head gasket problems
It was the intake plenum leaking oil. It burned oil real bad because of it.
Probably not rings causing the smoke there’s a gasket on the bottom of the intake that goes bad and allows them to burn oil from the inside
Correct. This one was real bad about burning oil.
